National Tequila Day

After our RV trip and everything that 2020 has held, National Tequila Day feels like a real occasion to be celebrated!

The photo above is from the cocktail party that Justin and I hosted for my sister Krystal and her now husband Luke’s out of town wedding guests the night before their wedding.  We offered each guest “Ranch Water” with grapefruit in my favorite hand painted glasses as they arrived to give them a bit of a Texas welcome!

How do you take your tequila and what is your favorite?

I have a few!  I love Casa Dragones Blanco in with soda water and a lime (also known as ranch water) and I like Clase Azul Reposado over a large ice cube because it has a great vanilla flavor (and, of course, because it comes in a blue and white bottle!)  I also LOVE a good margarita from time to time.

In Parties Around a Punch Bowl, I included a Margarita Punch that is one of my favorites.  Make yourself a batch and drop off a pitcher of the extra to a friend in honor of National Tequila Day!

MARGARITA PUNCH

1 1/2 cups Casa Dragones Blanco tequila

1 lime margarita mix (I use Trader Joe’s)

1 bottle Mango Bellini (I use Trader Joe’s)

1 cup lime juice

1/2 cup simple syrup

16 ounces sparkling mineral water (Topo Chico)

Mango slices, for garnish

Lime slices, for garnish

Mix all ingredients together and be sure to add the Topo Chico last!

TIPS:

• The classic lime margarita mix is a time-saving party short cut!

• If you want to do it all from scratch, I suggest using with your favorite margarita recipe and not being afraid to play with it until you love it!

• Take creative freedom: use this recipe as a base and go from there. If you don’t want the mango twist, take it out. Just be sure to adjust your liquor amounts if you shift the other components.
